No Changes to Securities Fees for 2008
In 2003, the legislature required the Department of Consumer and Business
Services to set fees for securities registration and license fees as equal
as possible to the national midpoint charged by other state agencies that
regulate securities. The department may adjust the fee amounts every two years
to align Oregon fees with national midpoints.
The department last conducted a survey of other states securities fees
in 2006. In order to determine if any changes had occurred between 2006 and
the present, the Division of Finance and Corporate Securities, together with
the Information Management Division, undertook a survey of securities registration
and licensing fees across all fifty states.
The median values calculated from the data staff gathered show that the currently
adopted Oregon fees for registration and licensing match the current national
midpoints for securities fees. Since no changes in the national midpoint appeared
to take place, the securities fees currently in effect in Oregon remain unchanged
until 2010, when the department may reconsider assessments for securities
registration and business licensing.
